Your child’s eye health is undoubtedly a very high priority for you. That’s also true for us here at the optometry practice of Rana Iman, OD. Among our pediatric eye care services are complete examinations, and diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia and strabismus.
Our Burke children’s optometrist recommends that you bring your child in for his or her first eye examination by no later than when she or he is starting school. If you notice any issues with your child’s eyes, though, it’s a perfectly good idea to come in even earlier. Two of the most common eye problems that affect our young patients are amblyopia and strabismus. These are both related conditions, being caused by the connection between the eyes and the brain. If that sounds super complex and scary, let us assure you that neither condition presents any serious threat to your child’s eye health or vision in the long term, especially when they are dealt with in a timely manner. Amblyopia, typically referred to as lazy eye, is associate with symptoms like poor depth perception, double vision, and blurry vision. Strabismus, or crossed eyes, also brings double or blurry vision, and possible headaches or eye strain. Count on our Burke children’s optometrist for expert diagnosis and care. Routine eye exams every other year are recommended for the purposes of determining your child’s current vision, and if necessary prescribing eyeglasses or updating the ones that he or she already has. Of course, our optical department makes those eyeglass lenses right here, and we also have a selection of frames to go around them.
Whether your goal is to have a periodic examination or to have an existing challenge looked at by our Burke children’s optometrist, all you need do is contact us right now to set up an appointment.
